The Firefox 4 Android beta is morbidly obese. But Mozilla has a diet plan.Over the past twelve hours, after Mozilla released its first Firefox 4 beta for Android, multiple Reg readers have said the browser takes up far too much space on their Googly phones. "Fooking HUGE!!!" said one. "Not even going to waste my time with the beta.



The install is indeed large — particularly when you consider that many Android phones offer only 64MB to 512MB of storage for apps. The Firefox 4 beta needs about 40MB of storage space. Whereas WebKit browsers can use the rendering libraries bundled with Android, Mozilla is forced to include Firefox's libraries in its APK (Android package) file.

The rumour mill is buzzing with regard to information about the upcoming iPhone 5 and iPad 2.The iPad 2 is likely to be released in a much shorter timeframe than the iPhone 5. This is as a result of the necessity for an iPad with a USB slot. The lack of a USB slot in the current generation of iPad has been a serious shortcoming and its only major flaw.


The Wall Street Journal has also reported that Apple are about to break their contract with AT&T and sign up with Verizon to create the Verizon iPhone. However theses rumours persisted before the release of the iPhone 4, so the truth remains unknown.

Subaru has been quite open about the fact that it intends to distance itself from its previous reputation as a manufacturer of high-performance cars, but that hasn't stopped the company from introducing a 2011 model-year version of the Impreza WRX STI.


Actually, it won't be called that. In an unusual move, Subaru has dropped the word "Impreza" from the title, so the car will be known simply as a WRX STI. An even more important piece of information is that, as well as being sold as a five-door hatchback as all Imprezas have been for the last three years, this one will also be available as a four-door saloon (as pictured here).
